Jollof Rice
One of Ghana’s most iconic foods is Jollof rice which can be found nearly anywhere. Jollof Rice is a main dish, consisting of broth boiled rice, normally served with sliced grilled or boiled, meat or fish. With a sweet tomato sauce, this dish is both sweet and savory. It is seen as a traditional Ghanaian dinner, and is eaten everywhere.

Etor
Etor is a popular dish in Ghana, prepared with plantain and with yam boiled and mashed, and mixed with palm oil. Sugar and cream is added. Groundnuts (Ghanaian peanuts) and eggs are used to garnish the dish. This dish is seen as a delightful to dinner, due to its sweet flavour. But it is also used as the main course. It is really seen as a treat.

Kenkey
Kenkey is fermented corn dough, wrapped in corn, which is then wrapped with plantain leaves that give it a different texture, flavour than most other foods in the world. It is then boiled for long periods into a consistent solid balls. Most of the time it is served with seafood, red onions and hot sauce, but it can we eaten just on it’s own.

The climate in Ghana makes it possible to grow all sorts of plants, fruits and vegatables, which also makes it a huge industri for Ghana. Marketplaces are filled with these colourful, juicy treats. It is also one of their main exports.
